Boasting over 5,000 members, HUCTW is Harvard’s largest Union. They work on healthcare, fair wages, working conditions/hours, flexibility, and work-life balance for their members. A strong online presence helps bind that community together and showcase its strength. It also raises up the organization to parallel the professionalism expected at the university itself.
Of course, the primary purpose of the website is to be informational for its members, which is why Viv worked closely with the HUCTW team to make as clear and clean a navigation as possible. The website connects users to materials, makes it easier to apply for grants and stipends, and showcases individual union members. All these features both humanize the organization and appeal to members and non-members alike. Naturally, we also embedded a prominent search feature so folks can easily find one of the many programs they may be looking for.
HUCTW had a strong logo and brand color established for us to implement. We built on this by giving the site a strong, organized color-block look. Viv’s design allows photographs to establish a potent visual connection with the viewer. We designed the site for easy editing, and we are happy to report that the HUCTW team learned how to navigate and make changes to the site in no-time flat!
